Beloved nineties kids' TV show making a comeback 30 years after it was cancelled

A BELOVED British TV show for kids is making a comeback 30 years on from when it last was on screens.

Maid Marian and Her Merry Men was a BBC comedy that followed the misadventures of the little gang as they worked to re-distribute wealth from the rich to the poor.

It was set during the time of Robin Hood, but the spoof show had Maid Marian as the leader of the group, with the classic hero playing a bumbling tailor.

Four seasons of the fable aired during the late 80s and 90s.

Now it is set to return for audiences to see - but as a musical rather than a TV show.

Show boss Sir Tony Robinson made plans for a West End version of the comedy as early as 2018.

However, now it is finally happening, with musical comedian Vikki Stone taking over as scriptwriter.

She paid tribute to the original creator on X, saying: "So excited about Maid Marian. The 90’s motherload. Thank you Tony Robinson
for trusting me with your wonderful show."

Benji Sperring is set to direct, and Maid Marian and Her Merry Men is expected to arrive on stage later this year.

A workshop has taken place already to give the actors a chance to prepare for their roles.
