'Fresh Prince' Director Jeff Pollack, 54, Collapsed and Died

Hollywood director and producer Jeffrey Pollack collapsed and died while jogging on a running path in Hermosa Beach in Los Angeles on Monday.

Pollack, 54, was found unresponsive at 6:30 a.m. by another runner who told police that an iPod Nano that the dead man carried was still playing The Eagles when his body was discovered.

Investigators believe that he died of natural causes while exercising. An autopsy and toxicology screening were undertaken by the L.A. County Coroner’s Office and are not expected to be released for several weeks.

Jeffrey Ian Pollack co-created, wrote and produced the popular 90’s sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ for several seasons. He also served as executive consultant on ‘The Tyra Banks Show’ and directed three feature films: ‘Above the Rim,’ ‘Booty Call’ starring Jamie Foxx, and ‘Lost & Found.’

He and business partner Bennie Medina created a management-production company Handprint that boasted a number of high profile clients, including Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey and Tyra Banks.

Medina said on social media, “It is with a heavy heart that I must bid farewell to my dear friend, Jeff Pollack. He was a talented writer, director, producer and entrepreneur … but he would say his greatest accomplishment was his two children, Lael and Logan, to whom he was an amazing and devoted father.”

Pollack exec produced two Billboard Music Awards in 1992 and 1993, and produced a TV documentary Jennifer Lopez in Concert. Most recently, Jeff Pollack had been working with Jeff Beacher, who produces the Beacher’s Madhouse variety shows at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Beacher said on Twitter, “RIP my partner, father, best friend and brother Jeff Pollack. I can’t put in words my emotions right now. I love you buddy.”
